Glow 2007

NEWS NEWS NEWS

‘The Wave’ church in Ocean Grove hosted a Glow tour 21st -22nd June to perform in schools, the community playgroup, and ‘WIPEOUT’ concert. This town is near the ‘Great Ocean Road’ and so we girls travelled down in Tamsin’s car, which we named ‘Petee the Buzz-Bug’ (a red PT Cruiser). We ordered fish for tea, being at the beach, then got a good night’s sleep at ‘Ocean Grove Holiday Park’. Bright and early, we met with Terry (a champion leader from the church), and took the gear to Surfside Primary School. As we were loading in, we realised they were having ‘Pyjama Day’ (Heidi really wanted to wear hers too!).

After Pete and Ash had set up, the pyjama cloaked kids and teachers started arriving for assembly. Our ‘Beach’ show went well, and the CRE kids enjoyed it a lot. We packed up to travel quickly to the playgroup, and set up for a puppet show with some dances. ‘Franklin’ the puppet was a hit with the 0 – 4 year olds, and they all liked our dancing ‘superstar statues’ game too! At Ocean Grove Primary School, we performed for the older kids, then for the younger ones (after consuming some amazing vanilla slice!).

A few moments for an afternoon nap (for ‘Franklin’), then off to the concert venue. Decked out in our new costumes, we performed dances, shared stories, and ‘Franklin’ the puppet even made an appearance. The kids loved the show, and heaps of parents purchased a GLOW t-shirt or CD which we signed for the kids. Happy listening Ocean Grove! We packed up and said goodbye to our newfound friends who do such awesome work with the community of young people in the town.
