Glow 2007
Glow - A History
Glow began in 2002 with an idea: to make a group who could perform just for kids! They would sing, dance, act and communicate a great message to children. Silka, Jen, Hayley and Tim began a journey into what this group could be. A young person from our home church - Careforce Church Mt Evelyn, made up the name GLOW – God Loves Our World, and it stuck! During preparation for the first Christmastime tour, Erin came on board in Silka’s place. Pete supplied the games skills, Hayley contributed acting and dancing experience, Erin brought singing and callisthenics abilities, and Jen’s gymnastics and singing expertise came in handy too.

The Bree’s Christmas show wowed the kids of the local schools out in Melbourne’s Eastern suburbs, and so the journey continued… A website and CD were on the cards, and 5 songs were recorded by the Glow girls during early 2003, and the CD was launched in August at the culmination of the Destiny Tour. The CD launch was a hit, and the girls were signing autographs into the night.  By the time Christmas rolled around, Brad was added to the team to fill Tim’s acting/puppeteer role, and the team trekked off to rural Victoria (Swan Hill) and NSW (Wollongong) for various shows in schools. By 2004, the team halted for a few months as Jen had her second child, but we were back on the road by mid year to take Bree’s Birthday to QLD and Tasmania for the Energizer conference.

The first Glow wedding occurred as Erin and Jonno tied the knot in October, and Brad took time out for his engagement also. Christmas comes but once a year, and this time almost 40 shows were booked, however Hayley severely damaged her knee the eve before the first Hope show. Despite the devastation, Glow performed as planned as their choreographer, Tamsin, stepped into Hayley’s performing shoes. Plans for a DVD were slowed as Glow waited for Hayley’s recovery from surgery, but shows continued and Glow even appeared at the Kidfest Franklin Graham Crusade at the Telstra Dome, 2005.

Nowra (NSW) and Alice Springs (NT) were amazing tours, as Glow worked with churches to positively reach their area. Hayley and Leigh’s wedding in September was next on the Glow agenda, then the rest of the team was off to Tasmania again. Glow toured the Toymaker’s Christmas show throughout schools in Melbourne and rural Victoria, followed by Carols events in Whitehorse, Federation Square, and Wyndym.
